Our Picks
Our Picks: February
We intended to write about our favorites for the month earlier on, but everything has been very fast paced and time got away! It’s still February though, so we are going to put our faves out there anyways.
Valentine’s Day has passed, but we are still going to put up things bright and pink and floral anyways, since it feels like winter is breaking and spring is really on its way. Winter in our headquarters in north central Pennsylvania has been quite mild though this year, so winter never really felt like it stuck anyways (and neither did the one snowfall)!
1. Rose Pomegranate Wash
We love this gentle vitamin C enriched face wash! We used rose water in this one, instead of regular distilled water, so it adds a light rose scent with rose extract. Roses are also a high in vitamin C flower! To boost the rose scent, we used a little bit of geranium essential oil, and boosted the vitamin C with zesty grapefruit essential oil! This blend of scent profiles is floral, yet invigorating. We also put a bit of pomegranate seed powder to partner with our other vitamin C rich ingredients.
2. Face Cream
This is the perfect face cream to put on after you use one of our face washes. We recommend pairing it with the Rose Pomegranate Wash, since in the face cream instead of using regular water, we use the water extracted from freshly juiced roses! It’s quite the process, but it is totally worth it. This face cream is also not like anything else that we make, since instead of using a chemical emulsifier to blend oil and water, we mechanically emulsify it with the perfect blend of water, aloe vera gel, beeswax, and oils. The solid oils and beeswax acts as a sort of scaffolding to hold the particles of water, without letting the oil and water molecules separate and pool together. It’s difficult to make, but we fortunately have it mastered!
3. Blush Lip Tint
After you have done your face routine, our blush lip tint will give your lips a playfully flirty pucker. Our lip tints are sheer, so instead of being matte and more of a solid color, they will enhance your natural color with a little bit more of a pop! We also use a little bit of peppermint, lemongrass, and lavender essential oils, so you will enjoy a slightly minty flavor and tingle when using these.
4. Cherry Blossom Bath Bomb
It’s still the season for hot baths, but we were totally inspired by spring in making these. Cherry Blossom is a very youthfully floral scent, not powdery like some other floral scents can be. This bomb features babassu oil, one of our favorite oils these days! Babassu comes from a nut that is very similar to that of a coconut, but the oil has a very distinctive feel. It absorbs super quickly into the skin, without leaving a greasy feel on the skin! We also topped these bombs with a sprinkling of activated charcoal.
5. Magnolia & Shea Body Butter
Our body butters were recently introduced to the line earlier this month for our spring release. Although scents may change with seasons, our body butters are definitely sticking around! Instead of being like the face cream above, we used a chemical emulsion to blend the oils, aloe vera gel, and water. We tried to do them like the face cream, but the specific oils used to add variety to our body butters were not having it. That’s okay though, we used one of our mild, environmentally gentle, solid conditioner bar emulsifiers and we are so glad that we did, because our body butters are absolutely perfect! The Magnolia & Shea body butter is rich in shea butter and has a wonderful whipped texture that spreads easily onto the skin. This one smells like blossoming spring magnolias, and we also scented with a little bit of shea blossom fragrance to bring it all together. We also make our body butters in half and full sizes, so you can start small and size up when you feel like committing. We think you will love it though!
