NEW: Sheer Lip Tints
Our sheer lip tints are finally here!
We’ve been quietly working on the concept and execution of these since July, and now we are proud to announce that they are finally available.
Why they are awesome
These are great because they are made with natural fruit & vegetable oils and beeswax, as well as mineral pigments. They do not contain any nasty parabens or dyes either, which makes up most of what is available in the cosmetic industry.
More about the oils
Our lip tints contain Castor oil, Avocado oil, Shea Butter, Coconut oil, Carrot Seed oil, and Red Raspberry oil.
All of these oils are sustainable and the production of each oil does not hinder human rights and environmental protection! They are also amazing for the lips.
Castor oil is a very thick oil, once used as oil for lamps, and given to children by the spoonful – which most over the age of 50 in disgust remember their mother giving it to them. Castor oil made it into these lip tints, since while I was researching I found that it was used in 1920s lipstick formulas. I also figured out why, because while these were in the process of formulation, if castor oil was not added, the pigment would move around on the lips or slick off in certain spots, rather than staying in place. It is also a very rich, moisturizing oil on the lips, so it was a win-win!
Avocado oil is amazing, and we are using it in more and more products. It happens that avocado oil is not only moisturizing, but it has been found to be lip-softening!
Shea butter is one of our absolute favorites, since it is a deeply moisturizing oil, and it is beneficial to women’s empowerment in Africa. We blogged about it last month, you can read more about it here!
Coconut oil, I’m sure that you have read at least a handful of articles about it online, or have heard people raving about it. It is currently a sensation on beauty and health blogs. Despite the claimed miracles of coconut oil, we use it to add shine to our lip tint. Yup, that’s it! If you are obsessed with coconut oil like so many, you can relish in the fact that our lip tint contains it!
Carrot Seed & Red Raspberry Seed oils are packed with vitamins for your lips! It has also been studied and is considered to have a natural SPF, but we are in no way able to claim that our lip tints have SPF protection without FDA approval. SPF testing also costs A LOT of money, that only huge companies can really afford. You will know that we have made it big if we ever have SPF figures on our products!
Versatility
What is also great about these is the versatility packed into each tube. Sheer lip tints are low-maintenance and the color will not “bleed” outside of the confines of your lips like many lipsticks do. These will not stain your lips either, if you want it to come off, you can take it off easily without hurting your lips in the process.
These tints are sheer, but they don’t have to be completely sheer. With one quick application you will likely have a sheer, tinted look, but if you swipe it on another time or two on top of your initial application, you will get a more pigmented look. This is very true for our darkest tint, Plum.
You can also mix your colors. For example, if Plum is too gray toned for your skin color, I recommend topping it with a warmer hue- my personal favorite tint to mix with it would be Wine.
You can dare to be creative with your lips and experiment with blending; I would be thrilled to hear what else goes well together!
I’d also love to hear what colors you want to see in the future! I’m always up for adding new things to each line of products!
