Hair Care FAQ’s
Our most popular products are without a doubt our solid shampoo and conditioner bars. Since they are so unconventional compared to bottled shampoo and conditioner, we often get a lot of questions about them, like how to use them, and which ones work best for certain hair types. Here you may find some answers to your questions.
What makes these different than regular soap bars?
Our shampoo and conditioners are completely different from our soaps, as they are specially formulated for your scalp and your hair – from root to end. Our base for the shampoo bars are gentle, environmentally friendly soap “needles”, which are derived from coconut oil. With that is a special blend of oils and butters which cater to different hair types and desired hair outcomes. Our conditioner bars are also a special blend of oils, conditioning honey (really!), and environmentally friendly detangling ingredients for soft, manageable hair.
My hair needs a serious lift, what would you recommend?
Our basic volume shampoo is Avocado. Our Avocado solid shampoo is perfect for those who often find their hair falling flat, and you will find that your scalp will take longer to regenerate oil, which is often the culprit. Paired with the Avocado conditioner bar, your hair will get the boost it needs.
But I want volume AND texture!
If you want major volume and more texture, you can rely on Beach Waves shampoo and conditioner. Our Beach Waves bars are formulated with pink sea salt to help pump up the volume. When salt reaches your hair follicle, it bonds, giving strength to whatever style you choose (texture achieved!), and keeping it from lying completely flat. Salt alone can be drying though, so we paired it with olive oil, shea butter, and coconut oil. Our beachy bars also contain kelp. Kelp, along with the oils, keeps the sea salt in check, keeping your hair from frizzing out, and restoring shine. It is important to use our Beach Waves conditioner with the shampoo to help lock in moisture.
I need the opposite, my hair is out of control and I need damage control!
We have just the thing. Our Sweet Orange hair care set was designed to tame your crazy locks, and does magic on curly and textured hair. Formulated with cocoa butter, shea butter, and sweet almond oil, your tendrils will soak them up and calm down. This set is especially good for those with split ends and breakage, as sweet almond oil is one of the best oils for your hair, rich in vitamins A, B, D and E; when conditioning, for best results, pay extra attention to working the cream into your ends. With orange essential oil in these bars, your hair is also getting a vitamin C boost, making this bar practically a multivitamin!
If you are not a fan of orange, look to our Peppermint hair care bars, which has a similar formulation.
Is there any way to make my hair grow faster?
Our peppermint set is your best bet at stimulating those hair follicles to promote hair growth. Peppermint essential is the special ingredient in these bars. When you massage them into your scalp you may feel a tingle as the peppermint stimulates your follicles. I recommend letting the conditioner rest in your hair a few minutes before rinsing to let it do its magic.
I have colored hair, are these bars color safe?
Our shampoo bars are very gentle on hair. The only one I would not recommend using every single day on colored hair would be the Beach Waves bar, due to the salt content – it would be best to alternate Beach Waves with the avocado for best results if you still want big volume and have colored hair.
Why should I use bars instead of bottled hair care?
There are many pros to using solid shampoo instead of bottled. One of the most obvious reasons is that you won’t be contributing another plastic bottle to a landfill. Not only will you be avoiding one plastic bottle, but rather 2-3, since each shampoo and conditioner bar lasts between 2 and 3 bottles of conventional shampoo and conditioner. They really do last a long time! With each use of a shampoo and conditioner bar, you are only using as much as you need and less is going down the drain. What does go down the drain though is environmentally friendly and gentle, so you can feel better about not contributing to pollution with these bars! Not only are these bars environmentally friendly, they really do right for your hair, you will feel the difference.
